Director of Boys - Ryan Hopkins

Ryan Hopkins joins North County FC after spending five years as the lead assistant coach at Concordia University-Irvine from 2004 to 2008. During his time with the Eagles, Hopkins helped transform the program into one of the best in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Concordia advanced to the NAIA National Tournament three times during his tenure and reached the NAIA Championship game in 2007. The Eagles also spent five weeks as the No. 1 team in the NAIA national rankings during the 2007 season and won back-to-back Golden State Athletic Conference championships in 2005 and 2006. While at Concordia, Hopkins coached 10 NAIA All-Americans, eight NAIA All-Far West Region and 20 All-GSAC players. The Eagles were also ranked in the NAIA top-25 for 33 consecutive weeks from 2005-2008.

From 2004 to 2008, Hopkins also served as a staff coach and college coordinator for the Irvine Strikers Soccer Club, a member of the U.S. Soccer Federation’s Development Academy. Hopkins coached various ages and teams during his time at the youth soccer power. As the college coordinator, Hopkins also played a large role during the college recruiting process for the club’s older players.

Hopkins began his coaching career in 2004 at University High School in Irvine, California where he served as the head boy’s varsity coach and the girl’s assistant varsity coach. Under Hopkins direction, University High won two Pacific Coast League titles and advanced to the CIF Southern Section Playoffs all three years he was at the school.

A four-year starting goalkeeper (2000-2004) at Concordia University, Hopkins led the Eagles to the school’s first ever appearance in the NAIA National Tournament in 2003. Hopkins was named a NAIA All-American twice during his playing career and his name is imprinted all over the school record books. He finished as Concordia’s all-time leader in career wins, No. 2 in goals-against average and shutouts and No. 4 in career saves.

Hopkins holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Concordia University. He also holds his United States Soccer Federation “A” license and is an Assistant Coach for the Cal Poly Men’s Soccer team, as well as the Director of the Mustang Goalkeeper Academy.

Director of Girls - Orlando Cervantes

Ziggy KorytoskiOrlando Cervantes has eight years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Prior to joining North County FC Cervantes served as head coach and sports information director at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona.

Prior to coaching the Eagles, Cervantes headed Holy Names University in Oakland, Calif. from 2004 to 2006 and served as an assistant coach at San Jose State University from 1998 to 2001.

In his career, Cervantes has helped develop six Major League Soccer players, two United States full National Team players and two Women’s United Soccer Association Team players, as well as numerous A-League players. Cervantes also spent a season (1999) as the head coach and assistant general manager of the California Jaguars, a professional Division III United Soccer league franchise.

Cervantes holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” license, as well as diplomas from the United States Youth Soccer Association, National Soccer Coaches Association and the KNVB Dutch Regional. He also serves as Assistant Coach for the Cal Poly Women’s Soccer team.
Cervantes holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from San Jose State University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports management from California University of Pennsylvania.
